Others Dream It. We Live It.

Welcome to the Essential Diving website of PADI Course Director and EFR Instructor Trainer Des Paroz

Des offers bespoke instructor level training on request, with the current focus being on PADI Specialty Instructor Training, PADI Freediver training and EFR Instructor Training programs.

Programs are offered in the Sydney, NSW area, or at other locations by arrangement.

Thanks for taking the time to drop by. Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions.

PADI Instructor Development Course (PADI IDC)

The PADI Instructor Development Course (PADI IDC) is the leading instructor training program in the recreational dive industry. Our programs are generally scheduled over 7 days to allow ample time to become fully comfortable with all the material.

Upon successful completion of the complete PADI IDC (or PADI AI Course and PADI OWSI Program), a candidate will be eligible to attend a PADI Instructor Exam. Once this step is successfully completed, you'll be ready to be certified as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.

Our IDC Programs are conducted in two formats - either full time (7 continuous days) or as a part-time PADI IDC (over three weekends). For the full time option, we generally try to schedule a rest day during the course.

Our programs include a requirement for self-study prior to the program using PADI's innovative eLearning system. This will allow you to come to the program with important foundational knowledge that we can build up.

PADI Specialty Instructor Training

People learn to dive so they can see cool things and have great experiences underwater. The great thing about diving is that there are loads of individual pursuits for divers to pursue.

Once divers have the basics under control, they might want to take photos, dive on shipwrecks, or just know a little more about the fish that they are seeing.

I offer PADI Specialty Instructor Training Courses in the following areas

  • Deep Diver
  • Emergency Oxygen Provider
  • Enriched Air Diver
  • Self-Reliant Diver
  • Underwater Naturalist
  • Underwater Photography
  • Wreck Diver

Each Specialty Instructor Training Course includes familiarisation on the Standards for the course, strategies for organising and conducting the specialty course, and an opportunity to be comfortable with teaching the knowledge and practical skills for the course. Most Specialty Instructor Training Courses include 1 or 2 dives, giving you hands on practice with the skills of the course.

Please contact us for more information.

EFR Instructor Training

Emergency First Response offers state-of-the-art, action oriented programs that meet global standards for first aid and resuscitation.

The EFR Instructor course is a 2 day training program that will teach you to plan and deliver a range of EFR courses, including EFR Primary Care (CPR), EFR Secondary Care (first aid), EFR Care for Children (pediatric CPR/first aid) and a short CPR-AED program. You will gain hands on experience in conducting these programs, which you will be able to market to a variety of individuals and groups.

Emergency First Response courses create the confidence to care, and are the perfect complement to the professional dive educators toolset, allowing the instructor to offer a complete package of programs for their divers.

For those interested in offering CPR and First Aid training that meets Australian workplace requirements, an optional EFR First Aid at Work Instructor program will meet these requirements (you will require a TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment in order to be able to teach these programs).

PADI Emergency Oxygen Instructor

Providing oxygen to an injured diver can make a difference in the diver's chances of recovery. Oxygen is important in the treatment of diving injuries, and quite often is the only form of first aid provided to injured divers. Oxygen can also be vital in first aid in non-diving medical emergencies like heart-attack, stroke and shock!

Every diver should know how to supply oxygen, and the precautions that apply to its use. Learning to provide oxygen is easy, and the PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider program is the perfect way for a diver to learn how and when to provide oxygen. The PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider uses easy to use oxygen delivery devices including the demand valve, non-rebreather mask, pocket mask with oxygen inlet and manually triggered resuscitation valve.

The PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider Specialty Instructor Training Course teaches the PADI Professional how to deliver this course, and how it can be integrated into other PADI courses, particularly the Rescue Diver program. The PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider Specialty Instructor Training Course takes less than 1 day, and is scheduled regularly at all venues.
